In Religion, our first topic is 'Creation and Covenant'. We are learning more in depth about the Creation Story from the book of Genesis and studying Pope Francis' letter 'Laudato 'Si' to understand how we can work together to care for our common home.
In Music, we are studying a composition unit, 'Mountains'. We are learning to tell stories through music, listening to music and considering the narrative it could represent and paying close attention to the dynamics, pitch and tempo of musical pieces.
We have had lots of wonderful PE experiences already this year. We are absolutely loving our weekly sessions with Dave, the NFL Flag Football coach. We have been learning how to throw and catch the NFL ball and practising some basic drills.
Our first Science topic is 'Rocks and Soil'. We have been investigating different types of rocks and studying their properties. We have also been looking at how different types of rock are formed and investigating fossils.
In French, our topic is 'Ourselves'. We are learning to name various family members. We have been using the Simpsons family to help us learn the vocabulary. Click here to play the online French Games we have been using in school.
Our Beyond the Physical unit this half term is 'Hands, Feet, Equipment'. We are developing our dribbling skills, dribbling with different types of equipment and using different parts of our bodies to develop object control.
In Life Skills, our unit focusses on 'Families and Relationships'. We are learning about?: healthy families; stereotyping - gender; stereotyping – age and disability; effective communication to support relationships; respect and manners and respecting differences.
In History, we are learning all about the Stone Age. We began by placing the Stone Age on a timeline, then explored the three time periods within the Stone Age. We found out about how homes changed during the Stone Age and studied the house remains at Skara Brae in more detail. Look out for an exciting event coming soon to help us with our History studies...
Our Art unit is all about drawing and shading. We have been experimenting with different pencils and pressures to create different effects whilst drawing plants.
Our first SUMO principle of the year is 'Develop Fruity Thinking'. We have been exploring how having a more positive mindset can help us to succeed in life and how we can change the language we use to be more positive about ourselves and others.
