Lledr 2024

Monday - Day 1

After a smooth journey to Lledr Hall, we arrived, explored the building and then had our lunch outside in the garden. The weather has been glorious!

This afternoon, we got all our kit ready (waterproof coats, trousers, fleece, backpack and helmet) before starting our afternoon activities.

Then we went swimming in the lake on site at Lledr, and explored some of the Jungle Gym! We're looking forward to dinner later and another activity afterwards!

This evening, we did orienteering around Lledr in small groups. Afterwards we had supper together and then got set for bed in our dorms with our friends. We've had a wonderful first day!

Check out the photo wall of all photos to see at the bottom of this page!

Tuesday - Day 2

Group 1 - Miss Rogers

Our first full day at Lledr was filled with an amazing walk around Llyn Crafnant and Llyn Geirionydd. It was a long walk but we were so proud of ourselves at the end! On our route we saw a waterfall, a cave entrance to an old slate mine and a monument. After all the walking, we enjoyed peacefully writing about our senses and feelings on a postcard before cooling our feet with a paddle in the lake!

Group 3 - Mrs Mann's Group

Today we went to Gwydir Forest Park and had a wonderful time exploring through the forest. We learned the ages of lots of very old trees, went to the forest maze and tried bilberries. We saw a slate mine too!

Group 2 - Miss Moran

We went bouldering this morning, where we were so brave and fearless when it came to manoeuvring through the tightest places. Every  single one of us made it to the very top! In the afternoon, we went gorge walking and it was extremely difficult with slippy rocks and a strong river current but we kept going to the very end.

Group 4 - Mrs Butler's Group

This morning we had an amazing time gorge walking, we loved jumping in and sliding down the stream. Then this afternoon we went bouldering, where  we loved squeezing through tiny passageways and climbing up high, practising our footing.

This evening we had a great whole group of Hide and Seek in the grounds. Then lots of us settled inside to watch the England match projected onto the big screen, and some of us chose to  do crafts.
…and then at supper time we had birthday cake for Igor!

It’s been another lovely, busy day!

Wednesday - Day 3

Group 1 & 3 - Miss Rogers & Mrs Mann

Group 1 and Group 3 headed off to Llyn Geirionydd for a day out canoeing together. We worked together fantastically as a team to  get the canoes off the trailer and down to the water. After practising how to row using a paddle, we set off across the lake.

We had a lovely stop for lunch partway up. In the afternoon, we rowed and stopped our boats at some rocks in the middle of the lake and we all jumped in!

After more rowing, we spent time swimming at another shore. Then we had the final row, against the increasing g wind, back to our starting place.

We had such a wonderful day out!

Group 2 - Miss Moran

We set off for day out on a scenic walk, to Moel Drynogydd. It was a mission!

The children were so resilient as we climbed higher and higher, sometimes over steep terrain. Once we reached the top, we were so proud of ourselves and enjoyed the amazing views.

Group 4 - Mrs Butler

Our day has been a whole adventure: high ropes course this morning, up in the forest at Lledr. We all bravely tackled the 'Indiana Jones Bridge'.

Then we had an amazing afternoon on the lake doing paddle boarding and kayaking. It was so much fun!

Our evening activities today were Hide and Seek in the garden (again) and  Wooden Games Night, playing the many games made an old caretaker at Lledr Hall.

We had so much fun trying them all out!

Thursday - Day 4

Group 1 - Miss Rogers

For our final day of activities, we headed off to do some bouldering in the morning. After some practice we headed up to the higher rocks, climbing over them and squeezing through some very tiny gaps!

We had lunch back at Lledr before an afternoon of Gorge walking. Similarly to bouldering we were climbing over rocks but this time they were slippy! We had lots of fun sliding around and jumping in! We visited group 2’s pool party on the way home too.

Group 3 - Mrs Mann

Our last day involved a morning of gorge walking. We had so much fun climbing up the gorge and did lots of sliding and floating.

This afternoon we went to the High Ropes Course, where we were very brave and careful using the harnesses as we balanced across. We loved all the challenges we could do, facing lots of our fears!

Group 2 - Miss Moran

We had another fun-filled day. This morning we headed up to the High Ropes course and challenged ourselves to balance and walk across tricky obstacles and at great height, particularly the Indiana Jones bridge!
Then this afternoon we had a ‘pool party’ in the lake… paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming and lots of splashing, it was brill!

Group 4 - Mrs Butler

There’s nothing like a huge adventure walk for our final day at Lledr. We headed off in the minibus to our destination: Ogwen and Cwm Idwal. Before too long on our walk we were climbing a very steep incline. Denholm was a fabulous leader who kept the group going all day. The views were so worth it though!

Whilst up there, we experienced multiple weathers, minutes apart…sunshine, rain, hail, extreme wind!

Our final evening at Lledr… of course we had marshmallows around the campfire together! Even if it was a little windy, we enjoyed roasting the giant marshmallows. Then we headed back inside for a chilled movie night together before the journey home tomorrow.

Friday - Day 5

We very much enjoyed our final dinner and breakfast sat with our friends. Once all packed we had a final session together in the classroom with Mrs Fryer.

We are so grateful to all the Lledr Hall staff, our instructors have been amazing!
Special thanks to Mrs Fryer, Mrs Hayward, Mr Edlington, Mrs Rowe, Mr Fletcher and Mr Fearnall!
